Spinny speller et premiere lecture


Je viens de finir ma version du "spinny speller", un matériel (non Montessori mais qui pourrait tout a fait l'etre) que les enfants utilisent quand ils commencent tout juste a lire. Trois blocs, consonne, voyelle, consonne, douze lettres différentes qui formeront 64 mots, dont la moitié aura un sens et l'autre ne voudra rien dire. Les enfants adorent les mots qui ne veulent rien dire, ca les fait rigoler! Pour nous les "grands", ca nous permet de savoir s'ils savent vraiment lire ou s'ils ne font que répéter des mots qu'ils connaissent.

I have just finished my version of the spinny speller, an early reading material. It is not part of the classic Montessori apparatus but it could have been. It consists of three blocks with twelve letters on them forming 64 CVC words. Half of them mean something and the other half doesn't. Children love silly words! The advantage of this for us teachers is to check that they can actually blend sounds and that they are not only reading words that they know.
